Tripura is a state featuring favorable climatic conditions suitable for various horticultural crops and fruit production. It is a northeast state sharing borders on the south, west, north, and southeast with Bangladesh and also with Mizoram and Assam.

Tripura has natural resources namely rubber, natural gas, medicinal plants, and tea.  The state is rich in limestone, glass sands, hard rock, and plastic clay. The climate is pleasant, and the landscape is scenic so this state is the most preferred tourist destination. The crops include pineapple, jackfruit, rice, potato, chili, sugarcane, and natural rubber. The major crop of Tripura is rice, and 91% is the cropped area. The medicinal plants are in a variety featuring, 379 tree species, 266 medicinal plants, 320 shrubs, 581 herbs, and 165 climbers. 

By March 2022, the installed power capacity generation is 674.43 MW in Tripura and it was under state utilities with 153.01 MW, 9.89MW with the private sector, and the central utilities with 511.53 MW. The installed total capacity was thermal power contribution of 575.04 MW, renewable resources by 30.90 MW, and hydropower of 68.49 MW.

Tripura has the policy and fiscal incentives under the ‘Tripura Industrial Investment Promotion Incentive scheme.’  It has resulted in the development of infrastructure, improved rail, and air connectivity, and trade routes established.

Lack of power results in hindering the transport and communication network of Tripura. Today, there are small-scale several industries in the state dealing with the manufacturing and production of handloom products and handicrafts, tea, and jute. There are fruit processing units and natural gas also now emerging in the state.

Tripura ‘Handicraft and Handloom Development Corporation’ is using new marketing schemes to market the items. The ‘All India Handicraft Board’ has an outlet in Agartala to promote. Over 5000 people are employed in this industry, and it is the burgeoning sector of the state economy.

List of the state schemes to start a new manufacturing unit 

Agriculture is the basic sector of Tripura state. It has over 75% of the total workforce of this state that relies on agriculture for a living. Nearly the state's 24/3% is for agriculture and about 2.5 lakh hectares come under this area of net cultivation. The principal crop is paddy reaped in Tripura. Apart from this Tripura also has jute, oilseeds, wheat, turmeric, sugarcane, and coconut grown in this northeast Indian state in plenty. 

Tripura pays concentration and takes effective measures to spruce their agricultural infrastructure.  There are new technologies, improved seeds, fertilizers, and protective chemicals that are implemented in the agricultural activities to keep in top shape the agriculture of the state.

Business Loan schemes by the state government

The state is a repository of clay, sand, lignite, and building materials, the hydroelectric potential in Tripura is exploited for the industrial development of the state. There are now 5 industrial estates Dhukli, Dhwajanagar, Kumarghat, Dharmanagar, and Arundhutinagar, and three more industrial centers are coming up in Udaipur, Agartala, and Kailashahar.

Tripura has natural gas reserves, and 97 % is high methane content. The reserves are vast to be the potential to set industries. Tripura Natural Gas production in 2020 was 1378 mcm (million cubic meters).
