There are different species at the genetic level and due to tremendous conservation, the ecosystem is at a level. The bio-diversity is unique in Uttarakhand and the state houses endangered and rare species of aromatic and herbal plants. The state government realizes the resource potential and this state is declared an Herbal state. 

The vegetation and floristic diversity are high and there is a variety of orchids, economic and horticulture, including bamboo. Its extensive varied terrain, geographical stretch, and the Himalayan mountain ranges climate in this state bestow Uttarakhand with wetlands in a series. The perennial rivers include Bhagirathi, Gana, Yamuna, Ramganga, Alaknanda, Sharda, Saryu, Kosi, Nayar, and their tributaries. Owing to these wetlands, and faunal diversity, there are breeding grounds, roosting, and shelters for resident and migratory birds.

Uttarakhand has mineral deposits such as rock phosphate, marble, magnesite, marble, gypsum, copper, dolomite, etc. The small-scale industries employ more than 63,000 people in the small scale industries. There are 1802 medium and heavy industries with Rs 20000 crore as an investment to employ over 5 lakh people. The industries are mostly forest-based and the handicraft units also generate revenue in this state.

Uttarakhand state Industrial Corporation has developed industrial estates and is helping in developing further. Though agriculture is the main for the economy, now after the Industrial revolution the economy is reviving.

Uttarakhand tourism industry is the main revenue generator.  It is followed by the agricultural sector and the mineral resources also contribute to generating income for the economy.  There are small-scale and Gramadhyog units, and real estate is the new force determining the flow of the economy.
