The export commodities include cotton raw and water, castor oil, sugar, spices, and Basmati rice. The climatic conditions of Gujarat are not favorable, besides the rocky terrain soil, and water salinity that has hampered agricultural activities. The sector remains a major component in the economy of the state. Rice, millet, wheat, and sorghum are the main food crops, and in the wetter areas, rice production is high.

Commercial dairying is also important as the cash crops include oilseeds, cotton, tobacco, peanuts, and sugarcane. All these add to the revenue of the state. Business loan schemes by the state government

The availability of power and resources, labor efficiency, and solid management are the foundation for any industrial development. Gujarat government has a pioneer place in the manufacturing sector, especially in pharmaceuticals, chemicals, and polyester textiles. The industrial belt of the state is in the southern sector of Gujarat. Near Vadodara, at Koyali, there is an oil refinery supporting a petrochemical industry nearby.

The pharmaceutical production is in Ahmedabad, Vadodara, and Valsad. Cement, cotton textiles, and vegetable oil are some products bringing more revenue. The industries bring good revenue as the labor unrest situations are relatively fewer than in a few other states.
