Edible Oils, Essential Oils and Lubricating Oils Industry

    EDIBLE OILS

It needs to be well noted and understood that edible oil is a fatty liquid that is extracted physically from several vegetables as well as animal tissues. The most appreciated edible oil is the olive oil which is good in taste as well as health properties associated with it. The extra-virgin quality of edible oil is known to be extracted mechanically from olives at a low temperature.

It needs to be well noted that edible oils are refined before consumption. This is done so that the taste of it is neutral. When edible oils are stored, they become rancid and depict an off-flavour as per their composition of fatty acid. The producers of edible oil try to prolong the shelf life by different techniques such as including anti oxidants. It is important to have natural anti oxidants and their appropriate levels should be included.

    ESSENTIAL OILS

These are an alternative form of medicine and are often used in aromatherapy. These contain plant extracts which support good health and well being. Thus, we can say that essential oils are actually the compounds which are extracted from plants. These oils are known to capture the essence, flavour and scent of the plant. These oils are known to be obtained through distillation processes or cold pressing (which is a mechanical method). When extraction of aromatic chemicals is done, this oil is then combined with carrier oil to create a ready to use product. The oils that are obtained via chemical processes are not termed in the category of essential oils. Thus, it can be said that essential oils are plant extracts in concentrated form that much retain the natural flavour and smell or the source of essence in them.

Essential oils should not be swallowed in any way. This is because the chemicals inside these oils can interact with the body. When essential oils are applied to the skin, some chemicals are known to be absorbed. Improved absorption is observed when different application methods are done over different areas of the body. However, much research needs to be done in this area of study.

    LUBRICATING OIL INDUSTRY

Lubricating oils have been very attractive in the value chain of oil and gas. These oils are an important and integral part of the petroleum industry. The use of these oils provide energy and growth in every area of development. There is much emphasis that is laid on protection of the environment and preserving cultural heritage of the country by use of this oil in the value chain of oil and gas. Lubricating oil is much used in automotive oils, industrial oils, greases as well as marine oils. It is very important to study how the industry of lubricating oil is performing. This is because it is ultimately linked to the entire value chain of petroleum products, oil as well as gas. Thus, these oils are very attractive to the industrialists because of its multiple uses.
