Products from Wastes (Agro Based and Industrial Waste)

It needs to be noted and well understood that the agro industrial wastes are used for manufacturing various kinds of chemicals, animal feed, antibiotics, antioxidants, biofuels, enzymes and vitamins. The process that is involved in producing all this is solid state fermentation (SSF). Herewith, many micro organisms are involved in this process of manufacturing valuable products.

These products are mostly derived from processing industries in the agricultural domain such as – fruit and vegetable processing, oilseed extraction, malt production, cereal grain milling, and so on. There are many examples of industrial waste which are utilized to manufacture important products. These include wood and scrap lumber, solvents, chemicals, trash, oil, weed grass, cafeteria garbage, dirt and gravel, masonry and concrete and so on. On the other hand, there is agro waste material which is produced through various agricultural activities such as bedding, plant stalks, vegetable matter, hulls, leaves, and much more. This agro waste is known to be produced from farming activities and has many useful ways by which it can be used.

The three types of industrial waste which can be used well are solid waste, toxic and hazardous waste, chemical waste, and so on. The chemical waste is mainly the waste that is generated from factories, warehouses as well as processing centers. The agricultural waste include broken boxes, oil filters, pallets, tires, garbage, rubber, plastic as well as trash. The other forms af agricultural waste include fruit bearing trees as well as grape vines.

It needs to be noted and well understood that the agricultural residues are extremely high and rich in bioactive compounds. These residues could be used in production of mushroom, biogas, biofuel as well as raw materials for different kinds of industries. The pollution load in the environment is much reduced when these products are used. The wastes, as mentioned before, include animal feed, vitamins, enzymes, anti oxidants, and other chemicals through solid state fermentation (SSF). The value added products are then discussed well as reviewed well.

Thus, it is well understood that there are different types of industrial wastes and different type of agricultural wastes. These wastes are put through te SSF process to produce useful compounds which reduce the pollution in the environment. It needs to be well noted that antioxidants are a kind of radical scavengers as they are known to protect human body from free radicals that cause diseases such as arthritis, dementia, asthma, anemia, aging process, ischemia, and so on. The natural anti oxidants are known to be safer and they have hepatoprotective, antiviral, anti-inflammatory, anticancer and anti-tumor properties  when different substrates are used with the use of different kinds of microorganisms. There is increased amount of protein content, phenolic content, fiber content as well as antioxidant properties in these waste when being converted. The wastes can be converted in a way so that they could be used for various kinds of beneficial strategies. Thus, to summarize, we have been briefly able to study how products from agricultural and industrial waste can be used well by converting them into useful compounds.
