Inks, Printing Inks, Flexographic Inks, Offset Inks, Digital Ink, Gravure Inks, Inkjet Inks, Toner Inks, Plastic Ink, Copier Inks, Marking Ink, Duplicating Ink, Colour Ink, Water Proof Ink, Stamp Inks, Pad Ink, Writing Ink, Woven Sack Ink etc
To begin with, let us understand that ink is a solution or a gel that contains just one kind of colourant such as a pigment or a dye. It is used to color a surface or produce a design, text or image. Ink is actually used for writing with a pen, drawing, quilling or even brushing. There are different kinds of inks are let us have a brief understanding of these.
Unlike varnish and paint coatings, printing inks are usually applied to the surface in the form of thin layers and this completely depends on the printing process. These inks are used in printing as well as writing purposes.
Flexographic Inks utilize another kind of plastic roller to deposit the ink by direct contact on the substrate. Flexographic inks are used as they provide fast solutions, cost effective solutions as well as reduced toll on environment.
These inks come in 3 different forms – solvent based, water-based as well as UV curable kind. However, these inks are known to be harmful to the environment , despite that they are actually safe to use for household applications as well as food packaging.
Offset Inks uses two different kinds of vehicles - linseed oil as well as soya oil. Linseed oil is actually a yellowish oil that is made out of flax. Offset printing has wide number of applications such as being used for commercial purposes – in flyers, brochures, catalogs, newspapers, magazines, postcards, and much more.
Digital Ink is used in a technology that allows beautiful drawings as well as handwriting that can be used in documents being produced electronically. Thus, we can say that a digital pen is used to create ink image on digital paper.
Gravure Inks refer to fluid inks with low viscosity, These inks are known to be drawn in a cylinder and then given a transfer to a substrate for their effective use. Platoflex inks are actually used for gravure painting. As these inks have the best of properties, these can be printed with high speeds on flexo as well as gravure machines.
Inkjet Inks are actually printer inks which are made of carbon black. Its composition includes a solvent, binder, drying agents as well as pleothra of other additives. These inks are used in computer printing that assist in creating a digital image through printers. Thus, these inks have many commercial applications.
Toner Inks are usually stored in a single cartridge. These are usually made of granulated plastics as well as power based pringt mediums. These allow better control as well as accuracy.
Plastic Inks are usually synthetic enamels as well as epoxy links which are advised for printing on products. One of the commercially available thermoplastics is polypropylene. These inks are known to have much more rigidity than polyethylene and depicts good amount of abrasion resistance, surface hardness as well as other properties.
There are many other types of inks such as - Copier Ink, Marking Ink, Duplicating Ink, Colour Ink, Water Proof Ink, Stamp Ink, Pad Ink, Writing Ink as well as Woven Sac Inkand their properties need to be studied well.
