Historical gold mining activities in India include ancient operations in regions such as Anantpur, Hutti, and the Kolar Gold Fields, with Kolar historically contributing a major share of India's gold production. Modern gold recovery involves various mining and processing techniques depending on ore characteristics. Low-grade oxide deposits may be treated through dump or heap leaching, while high-grade or refractory ores generally require additional processing steps such as crushing, grinding, concentration, roasting, pressure oxidation, and cyanidation to recover gold values efficiently.
