Instant coffee, also known as soluble coffee or coffee powder, is a beverage product obtained from brewed coffee beans. It represents the dried soluble portion of roasted coffee and is available commercially in powder or granule form for quick preparation by dissolving in hot water. The manufacturing process generally involves extraction of soluble coffee components followed by drying methods such as freeze drying or spray drying to create a stable, easily rehydratable product.
Unlike conventional coffee preparation, where used coffee grounds remain as waste after brewing, instant coffee is fully soluble and designed for convenient consumption with minimal product residue. The industry includes different forms of instant coffee such as non-agglomerated powder, agglomerated coffee, and granulated coffee, serving diverse consumer preferences.
