Industry Overview
Iron ore is a naturally occurring mineral resource extracted from deposits formed through geological processes such as weathering, sedimentation, hydrothermal activity, and chemical processes. These deposits occur in igneous, metamorphic, and sedimentary formations. Iron-bearing mineral deposits are classified as ore when they can be commercially mined and processed into iron. Direct shipping ores can be transported after mining without beneficiation and generally contain iron content ranging from 25-68%, while lower-grade ores require beneficiation before being used in iron-making furnaces.
The iron and steel industry is considered an important indicator of industrial development and economic progress. Per capita steel consumption is widely recognized as a measure of industrial growth, with developed countries historically recording higher consumption levels compared with countries having developing steel sectors.
This feasibility report has been prepared for the installation of a Brown Field Project involving an Iron Ore Fines/Lumps production facility. The proposed facility is planned for processing iron ore resources through suitable production and beneficiation methods to support the iron and steel value chain.
