DYE FIXING AGENTS (POWDER)
[CODE NO.4379]
Direct dyes are printed on cotton fabrics by direct and discharge styles. The main drawback of direct cotton dyes is that their fastness to washing and soaping is generally poor. This result in the tinting of unprinted portions or the areas printed with other colors. Thus production of absolutely white background becomes difficult. Cationic surface active agents, e.g. Fixanol C, Sandofix, and Micofix Cl etc. are commonly used to improve the fastness of these dyes on cellulose fibres. The chemicals which are used to improve the washing fastness of direct dyes are called Dye Fixing Agents. These chemicals function by forming a complex between the dye anion and the cation of the agent. The complex, being less soluble than the dye anion, shows increased wet fastness.
These cationic dye-fixing agents are also used in dyeing and printing with reactive dyes. During dyeing with reactive dyes under alkaline conditions, major part of the dye gets fixed with the cellulose, but some of it gets hydrolysed also; this hydrolysed dye gets stripped during soaping, thus staining the unprinted ground. If any mild oxidative or reductive treatment is given to destroy the tint of the ground a part of the dye at the printed portion is also destroyed. To overcome this problem the cationic dye fixing agents can be used; they fix the anionic hydrolysed dyes, like a direct dye, but not as a reactive dye. If prior to rinsing stage at which thickener is removed, the printed cloth is given a treatment with a dye fixing agent, the hydrolysed dye is also fixed and when it is subsequently rinsed less of it is removed with the subsequent production of white ground. Additionally increased color value at the printed portion is also achieved since the hydrolysed dye is also fixed.
Direct dyes show poor fastness to washing and soaping. After treatments improve the fastness properties of these dyes on cellulosic fibers by using cationic surface active agents, such as Fixanol C, sandofix, lyofix DF, Sapamines, Hicofix GL, Tinofix FRD and others, On completion of dyeing, with most dyes it is usual to give an after treatment with a surfactant a number of anionic and cationic surfactants are used.
DESCRIPTION OF DYE FIXING AGENT
Dye Fixing Agent Formaldehyde Free SD-5284 (Concentrated powder) Formaldehyde free fixing agent SD-5284 is a kind of non-formaldehyde dye fixing powders, which can greatly improve the fabric color fastness for direct dyes and reactive dyes.
Safety:
• SD-5284 is a kind of non-formaldehyde fixing agent, so there is no any problem which is caused by formaldehyde.
• SD-5284 can greatly improve the fastness of fabric in water, hot water, color fastness to washing and perspiration on the dying of direct dyes and reactive dyes of cellulose fiber and silk.
• SD-5284 can be used with other synthetic resin in same bath.
